Sub: Revision of School Fees for DAE employees in AEES

Sir,

It is brought to the notice of NFAEE that the AEES authorities unilaterally enhanced/introduced the School fees with immediate effect. The tuition fee shall be Rs500/- per month for the wards of DAE and Rs2000/- for non-DAE wards. It means Rs6000/- shall be the annual fees in place of zero fees to Rs1200/- per annum till date.

The attempt by the AEES authorities to enhance the fee structure was in the context of the introduction of children’s education allowance by the 6th CPC @ Rs1000/- per month. This allowance is introduced to take care of all needs towards education which includes text books, books and other materials, uniforms, set of shoes, fees towards extracurricular actives, etc. If any employee has more than two children, he/she shall be forced to pay from their pocket the enhanced/newly introduced fees, as the Education allowance is eligible for only two children.

The AEES authorities, with out discussing in the LMC or the representatives of the parents, with a single motive to grab the major portion of the Education allowance is a hasty decision. Even it is reported that the decisions is not with the concurrence of governing council of AEES.

It is pertinent to note here that AEES is a fully funded aided establishment under DAE and full budget support is extended by the Department for the smooth functioning of the Schools under AEES.  Under the new circumstance, by using the introduction of Educational Allowance, the School authorities would think about enhance the extra curricular activities of the students by arranging training/induction courses etc on various literal, cultural, creative and other areas. Instead of that the management without applying their mind took unilateral decision to grab the money from the parents and decided to enhance/introduce the tuition fee.

Schools are running by various other Ministries and Departments and nowhere such an attempt has been made to divert the tuition fees towards their hand as being done by the AEES authorities.

It is therefore request you to give necessary instruction to withdraw the decision to increase fee and hold discussion with the representatives of the employees, parents, etc to formulate the policy on fees, extra curricular activities, etc.

        Thanking you

Yours faithfully,
